Rice bags are a great option for home care.
Soreness can hit at the worse times. Late at night when we need to be up early the next day. While on vacation when all we want to do is enjoy our time off. ect ect. One of the things that I have seen great results in decreasing soreness in myself and my patients is the use of a rice bag. Rice bags are so simple and easy to use. I even had some made up with my office name because I believe in them so much. It can be used hot or cold. In general, cold is used on injuries that are acute or new so within 48 hours. Heat is used for chronic injuries that have been going on for more than 2 days.
Pro tip: Just don’t get it wet or the rice will be ruined. Also, if you over heat it you can burn the rice and it will smell pretty yucky Depending on the size of the rice bag, depends on the length of time you heat it up. Usually it is between 30 seconds to 2 minutes in the microwave. To use it cold, I recommend putting it in a Ziplock bag and storing it in the freezer.
