Frequently Asked Questions
Everybody can benefit from chiropractic care, but so many of us are either skeptical or scared because in reality we don’t know what it entails. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we have gotten in our office.
What is the “popping” or “cracking” sound?
The “popping” sound is when gas is released from the joint. The noise is caused by the pressure changing in the joint which causes gas bubbles to be released. Sometimes the sound can be loud but when done correctly there is rarely any pain with it. Just like when you “crack” your knuckles. Dr. Yvonne Aicher at Essential Life Chiropractic has many techniques to help you feel better. If you do not like the “popping” she has many ways to help you without the “cracking”.
Is chiropractic safe?
Chiropractic is safe for infants all the way to centennials. Did you know…? Over a 7 year study period, patients whose primary care doctor was a chiropractor had 60.2% less hospital admissions, 59% less hospital days, 62% less outpatient surgeries & procedures, and 85% less medicine costs compared to patients who only used conventional medical care.

What is an Adjustment?
Adjustments are when a trained licensed Doctor of Chiropractic specifically moves a bone into its correct position. Therefore; reducing pain, swelling, muscles imbalance, strain on ligaments and allows for proper position of discs. Adjustments can also be made on arms, legs, feet, wrists, elbows, knees and jaws.
Once I see a chiropractor do I have to go forever?
It is our goal at Essential Life Chiropractic to get you out of our office and back to your life pain free. However, life happens and can cause strain on muscles, discs and joints. We are always here for our patients. We understand that wellness chiropractic helps the body to prevent illness, decrease colds and increase quality of life. However, you get to choose the care you want and we are here to aid in your health.
What type of education and training do chiropractors have?
Doctors of Chiropractic are required to have a 4-year bachelor’s degree as well as the 4 year Doctor of Chiropractic degree. We are educated to be primary health care providers. The emphasis is more on the muscle, bones and joints in their clinical practice rather than drugs/pharmacology. Educational requirements for Doctor of Chiropractic are among the strictest of any of the health care professions. Because chiropractic care includes highly skilled adjusting techniques, a significant portion of time is spent in clinical technique training to master these important adjusting techniques. In total, the chiropractic college curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience. The course of study is approved by an accrediting agency, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Chiropractors are required to pass 5 parts of national boards plus what the individual state requires.

Whenever I had a little problem with my body, I always ran to one of my dear friends [Franco Columbo,D.C.], he was always right there with the adjustments. This is how I found out the best way of going, is to use Chiropractors, not only after injuries, but also before injury.”
